Fasting To Lose Weight Safely

November 29, 2008 by Petra

With obesity reaching epidemic proportions in the US and many other countries, it’s clear that the way we eat needs to be changed. What we consume and how much we consume combined with lifestyles that no longer demand such high calorie burning activities as they once did, are the three main reasons we are gaining excess body fat.

This “modern” lifestyle has produced nations where obesity and being overweight is becoming normal or at least inevitable. Now is the time to turn back the clock to reduce this debilitating problem that is giving rise to many chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and several forms of cancer, all of which are potentially life threatening.

People with obesity or weight problems fall into one of three camps.

1. The denial or resignation to being fat camp.
2. The quick fix, unsustainable fad diet camp.
3. The logical approach to long-term calorie management camp.

I can assure you that the people who join the long-term calorie management camp are by far the most successful group who, with help and guidance, succeed in turning their lives around to become slimmer, healthier and fitter, facing far fewer chronic diseases throughout their lives.

Once such approach has been pioneered by Brad Pilon, who after a lifetime working in the sports supplements industry, raised eyebrows with his controversial approach to calorie control. Brad studied the lifestyle of predatory animals that have to hunt for their food every day. If they succeed, they eat and when they fail they go without food. This “fasting” condition will continue until they next find food.

Prehistoric man lived as a hunter –gatherer and will have been subjected to periods of fasting when food was scarce. Compare that to today’s lifestyle and you start to see the problem. Most people eat three meals each and every day of their lives and supplement this with snacks whenever they want. There is little wonder that excess calories are consumed most days.

Brad’s approach is to introduce short periods of fasting into your lifestyle to break the cycle of constantly consuming calories. In this way the body is alternately in a state of eating and storing calories or fasting and burning calories. By using Brad’s fasting formula an overall reduction in calorie intake of 25% -30% can be achieved while still eating every day.

On page 45 Brad also talks about the significant benefits his program offers regarding blood sugar and insulin reductions; a major factor in combating the ever increasing cases of type 2 diabetes.

This book provides compelling evidence that significant weight loss can be achieved and maintained by using Brad’s easy to follow program and I highly recommend that everyone who has an excess weight issue should read it.
